About Dubai Health Authority

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was created, in June 2007, by Law 13 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, with an expanded vision to include strategic oversight for the complete health sector in Dubai and enhance private sector engagement.

Prior to the establishment of the DHA, the Department of Health and Medical Services, which was established in 1973, was the functioning authority that almost exclusively focused on health service delivery

In May 2018, H.H Sheikh Mohammed, issued Law No. (6) of 2018 of the DHA. The new Law further enables the DHA to achieve its objectives including regulating medical services in Dubai, enhancing competiveness and transparency, improving medical services and products based on international best practices and achieving the sector’s objectives according to approved strategic plans

H.H Sheikh Mohammed also issued Decree No. 17 of 2018 establishing subsidiaries of the DHA the Dubai Healthcare Corporation and Dubai Health Insurance Corporation to further enhance healthcare services in Dubai and enable DHA to fulfil its responsibilities and obligations.

Three new strategic sectors were also added as part of the decree; they include Strategy and Corporate Development, Health Regulation and Shared Support Services.

In addition to overseeing the health sector for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA also focuses on providing services through DHA healthcare facilities including Latifa, Dubai, Rashid and Hatta Hospitals, its 12 primary healthcare centres, 17 medical fitness centres and its 6 specialty centres

About Noor Dubai Foundation

Noor Dubai Foundation is a UAE based charity focused on the prevention of blindness and visual impairment globally. Launched as an initiative in 2008 by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, it was later established as an NGO by Law (18) in October 2010. Over 27 million individuals from all over Africa and Asia have benefited from the Foundation’s free treatment and preventive programs, which includes provision of surgeries, eyeglasses, medication, and health awareness and training programs. As a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, Noor Dubai continues to strive towards fulfilling a vision of a world free from preventable forms of blindness.

About IAPB:

Dubai Health Forum (DHF)

The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) believes in a world in which no one is needlessly visually impaired, where everyone has access to the best possible standard of eye health; and where those with irreparable vision loss achieve their full potential.

IAPBs key priorities are:

  • Global advocacy: To raise the profile of eye care with key international institutions, so it receives the attention and resources needed to achieve universal access to eye health. This work has recently resulted in a landmark UN resolution on vision as well as a sector-critical partnership with the World Health Organization
  • Connecting knowledge: Underpinning IAPB’s activities is it’s role in providing authoritative data and information and enabling access to up-to-date knowledge, information and practice via tools like the IAPB Vision Atlas.
  • Strengthening the network: IAPB support active partnerships between over 180 members around the world and with other key organisations and sectors to tackle the barriers to delivering eye care for all.
  • Providing services: We will aim to provide high quality, economically viable services which add value to members.
  • Encouraging everyone to Love Your Eyes: IAPB leads global campaigns using existing days like World Sight Day to educate the public, governments, and world leaders to help raise the profile of eye health. Working with it’s global membership to make sure eye health receives the global political, health and development focus it needs and deserves.

IAPB, it’s members and stakeholders are looking forward to the quality and hospitality of events in Dubai and welcome the opportunity to return at this critical point in our network’s history.
